Artisan's Cherish Christmas Showcase: Day 13

Welcome to day 13, the final day of the Cherish 2012 Christmas showcase. While Cherish may be finished, there are countless other unique, beautiful products available for purchase in our stores in Fortitude Valley and South Bank.

For day 13, Lydia Pearson selected the quirky Haasch Lamps by Alison Schutt and Jan Schutt.

"Such a witty re-purposing of an originally non-aesthetic product into one that becomes a considered piece of functional art. The patterns, colours and form are completely in line with contemporary interior aesthetic, yet the fit is purely coincidental. Beautiful, functional, sustainable - perfect!"
- Lydia Pearson, designer, Easton Pearson

Haasch Lamps are now in-store from $143 - $352.

Artisan's Cherish Christmas Showcase: Day 10

By day ten of Cherish you've probably seen a whole pile of gifts that you would love to buy for your friends and family. But what about that one music-mad, stylin' friend who is too cool for most of your gift ideas? Dave Thorne from Bump and Grind Espresso Bar reckons these designer glass speakers by Bjorn Rust will do the trick.

"I love that these speakers are made from glass, a material that I haven't seen speakers made from before. I also like the materials that Bjorn has combined."
- Dave Thorn, owner, Bump and Grind Espresso Bar

The designer glass speakers by Bjorn Rust are now available in-store or online.

Artisan's Cherish Christmas Showcase: Day 9

Cherish day 9 brings us the gorgeous Tennyson bags by Kristin Tennyson. The Tennyson Bags are fresh, unique and fun, incorporating reclaimed vintage fabrics, leather, seatbelt webbing and a variety of other industrial materials.

"Since I'm based in Cairns, I like the fact that regional makers of distinction supply both artisan and KickArts Shop. Kristin Tennyson migrated from Canada, lives in Cairns and is an accomplished painter with a strong affinity for mid twentieth-century textiles, which she sources to handcraft her bags. Admixtures of strapping, hose fittings and industrial buckles are witty features: a Tennyson bag definitely raises smiles. Her styles keep evolving and the look is hand-made but on trend. In Cairns our Tennyson collectors come back regularly, admitting their weakness for these quirky accessories, each one an original. I love mine for its leather straps made from repurposed belts with safety hooks, and of course its funky sixties furnishing fabric. Big smile!"
- Ingrid Hoffmann, Director - KickArts Contemporary Arts

A wide range of Tennyson bags is currently available for purchase in our Fortitude Valley and South Bank design stores.

Artisan's Cherish Christmas Showcase: Day 8

The eighth day of Cherish brings us Julia de Ville's jewellery. This range merges the intricately beautiful with the macabre, and Alison Kubler loves it.

"I chose these pieces by Julia de Ville for the intricacy of the work but also for the Gothic attitude! I enjoy the references to Victorian mourning jewellery, and the allusions to memento mori. These small earrings and necklace are at once macabre and beautiful. They offer pause for thought about life and its brevity - isn't Christmas a time to be thankful after all?"
- Alison Kubler, freelance writer and curator, Director of mc/k art consulting

Julia de Ville's jewellery is available now in our Fortitude Valley store.

Artisan's Cherish Christmas Showcase: Day 7

The Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor: 100 Women 100 Brooches 100 Stories exhibition was held at artisan in 2011 and is touring the country until 2014. The beloved collection of brooches - each made by an Australian female jeweller to honour another amazing Australian woman's achievements - is as complex and vast as the women it is based on. Artisan CEO Liana Heath recommends the exhibition catalogue as a beautiful Christmas gift.

"Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor: 100 Women 100 Brooches 100 Stories showcases the brilliance of contemporary jewellery from remarkable women who inspire me. It's a great example of the exceptional design and craftsmanship that thrives in Australia"
- Liana Heath, CEO, artisan

The Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor: 100 Women 100 Brooches 100 Stories catalogue can be purchased now in-store or online.

Artisan's Cherish Christmas Showcase: Day 6

What do you get the person who has everything? How about a Deck 'o' Dada pack of playing cards by Karl de Waal, inspired by the famous 'anti-art' movement? Malcolm Enright took one look at this deck and fell in love.

Why I love it:
"1. I collect cards
 2. I have a Dada of my own
 3. I'm a Dada with a daughter
 4. Dada rocks!"

- Malcolm Enright, artist and collector

Pick up a deck in our Fortitude Valley store.
